Dr. Lee N. Purvis

Dr. Lee Purvis is a licensed psychologist in Florida and Louisiana.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University in Greensboro, NC. He received his Master's and Certificate of Advanced Study from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and earned his Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. He completed his predoctoral internship at P. K. Yonge Developmental Research School in Gainesville, FL and focused primarily on supervising graduate student trainees’ implementation of counseling techniques. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the Division of Medical Psychology and Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida. There he worked in outpatient, inpatient, and hospital settings working with children and adults experiencing OCD, phobias, other clinical anxiety disorders, mood disorders, gender dysphoria, PTSD, and borderline personality disorder. 

Following completion of his postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Purvis was hired as an Assistant Professor in the Specialist in School Psychology Graduate Program at Louisiana State University – Shreveport (LSUS). There, he teaches courses in psychopathology, psychopharmacology, tests and measurement, and supervises practicum. In the summer of 2021, Dr. Purvis also became the director of the Community Counseling & Psychology Clinic at LSUS which is a training center for undergraduate and graduate students’ delivery of assessment, consultation, and counseling services to the community. 

We are excited that Dr. Purvis is bringing his expertise in counseling and assessment to our practice. He provides services to patients across the lifespan (aged 6-40), and will be with our practice on a part-time basis.
